Apothic Red 2008

I’m a sucker for a good red blend, and I just found a doozy. Apothic Red Winemakers Blend 2008 is a happy blend of Syrah, Zinfandel and Merlot. It manages to marry the best traits of all three grapes, a bit of spice from the syrah, red fruit and berry from the zin, and smooth vanilla and mocha undertones from the Merlot. It’s rich with fruit flavors and easy on the tongue with no tannic bite. And here’s the best part, I paid $8.99 for it (on sale retail was $4 more). This is a wine I’d happily pay twice that amount for. I found it at Fred Meyers (if you are here in the Northwest), and I’m going back for more before everyone else beats me to it. Check it out if you like easy, jammy, pretty reds.  I’m lickin’ my whiskers! – Judy
